In a significant political development ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Janata Unnayan Party founder Humayun Kabir and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi jointly announced an electoral alliance. The announcement was made during a joint press conference where both leaders outlined their plan to contest the upcoming state elections together and expand their political presence across West Bengal.
Speaking at the event, Humayun Kabir said the alliance would organise 20 large public rallies across the state to build support ahead of the polls. The campaign will begin with a major public meeting in Baharampur on April 1, which will feature Owaisi as the main speaker. The leaders said the rallies would aim to mobilise supporters and present their political agenda to voters. Kabir emphasised that the alliance intends to strengthen grassroots engagement and reach communities across districts through these public meetings. According to him, the rallies will be held in key political regions to establish the alliance as a viable force in the upcoming election.
The announcement signals a new political alignment in West Bengal as smaller parties attempt to consolidate support ahead of the high-stakes assembly contest. With the first rally scheduled in Baharampur, the alliance plans to begin its campaign tour and expand its organisational network across the state in the coming months.
